Welcome to the Caprivi Region

The Caprivi Region is the only of Namibia's 13 Regions to be bordered by four different countries - Angola, Zambia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. All four countries are SADC (Southern African Development Community) members. The regional capital of the Caprivi Region is the town of Katima Mulilo, which is located on the banks of the Zambezi River and is the only major Town on the region, although it is fairly densely populated with many villages.

A huge draw card to the region is that the Caprivi Region is surrounded by four perennial rivers, the Chobe, the Kwando, the Linyanti and the Zambezi River. For many years this region was base to the South African Army, which negatively affected the wildlife of the area. With the Soliders now long gone, wildlife populations have started to flourish once more, The waterfront areas have combined vast wetlands with riverine forests, which has attracted over 600 species of birdlife and four of the Big 5, the only exception being the Rhino.

The regions boast four National Parks, the Bwabwata, the Mamill, the Mudumu and the Mahango, with over 200 kinds of flora, shrubs, trees and fruits, complementing the wildlife and spectacular geography.
